Dragons burn Hawks for Coach Zach Spiker 1st Win

Philadelphia PA: It is always exciting to open a new season with a new coach in front of your home fans as the Drexel Dragon took on the Hartford Hawks from the Daskalakis Athletic Center on the campus of Drexel University on Friday night. Drexel enters the game with a (0-2) record and off a loss to Rutgers on November 13 while Hartford come into match up with the Dragons with (1-1) record and off a loss to Rider on November 16. This game marked the home coaching debut for New Drexel coach Zach Spiker.
Hartford won the tip to start the game and they would score the games first points on basket by freshman Kurk Lee for the early 2-0 lead. Hartford would get on board with basket by Jalen Ross. both teams would make baskets and play good defense. The Hawks would go on a run that cut into the Dragons lead and Jalen Ross would give the Hawks a 21-20 lead with 6:41 left & it was Hawks first lead of the game. Dragons would answer the run by the Hawks and would take a 31-28 lead into halftime.
Drexel got ball to start the 2nd half and score right away with basket by Austin Williams, Hartford would cut the lead down to 1 at 33-32 with 18:34 left, then the Dragons would just take over the rest of the game lead by Kurk Lee & Rodney Williams. the Dragons would increase the lead to 14 at 55-41 with 11:27 left in the game. Hartford did not have answer for the Dragons scoring in the middle by Rodney Williams and he would have a massive 1 handed alley opp dunk from nice pass by Kurk Lee with 3:10 left. a Crowd of 2,025 saw the Dragons take down the hawks 87-73 for Coach Zach Spiker 1st win as head coach. Drexel Freshman Kurk Lee would say a phrase the 76ers fans have heard a lot which is “Trust the Process” during his post game press conference. Drexel now goes to 1-2 on the season and get ready to take on North Texas on November 20 and with the Loss, Hartford falls to 1-3 and looks forward to game against Appalachian State on November 23.
