Darryl “Chocolate Thunder” Dawkins Passed Away at 58

Philadelphia PA:  The entire basketball world lost one of its great players on Thursday as, Darryl Dawkins passed away at the age of 58 from a heart attack. He was known mostly for his powerful dunks which also saw him shattering  2 backboard in 1979. Dawkins received the nickname, “Chocolate Thunder”, from Stevie Wonder.  Dawkins was drafted 5th overall in the 1975 NBA Draft by the 76ers. he played  15 years in the NBA, seven of those years with the 76ers from 1975-1982, then 5 season with the New Jersey Nets from 1982-1987,, 2 seasons in Detroit and 1 season in Utah. Dawkins played in 726 games, started 232 of them with 8,733 points, 1,023 blocks, 4432 rebounds.
