Morning Star Chio Let Go From Wired 96.5 Philadelphia
- Updated: December 14, 2012
WIRED 96.5, Philadelphia Morning Host Chio has been let go from the station. The announcement was made on-air this morning at 9:45am. Co-Hosts Shila and Tingle will remain on the WIRED 96.5 morning show moving forward. This is a sad day for listeners as many have followed Chio and his journey from Q102.
VP/GM Natalie Conner said, “We appreciate the contributions CHIO has made to WIRED 96.5, our listeners and to the PHILADELPHIA community while a member of the WIRED 96.5 on-air staff, and we all wish him the very best in the next phase of his successful career.” – (All Access)
Chio left a message to his fans and followers via Facebook following his announcement of resignation:
I love you Philly! I love my P1’s. We’ve been through so much together. We’ve shared National events like 9/11 and weathered Hurricanes and Snowstorms. We’ve cheered together when the Phillies won the World Series! You were all in the delivery room when I had my youngest son Tristan. You have all opened your hearts and helped me over the years grant so many Christmas Wishes and changed the lives of so many families. You were all there for me when I went through a hard time in my marriage and watched me as I rebuilt the relationship with my wife Shawn. She is my rock. She stood by me through thick an thin. It’s very hard to say goodbye to you all but my time at Wired is over. I can never thank this City – and the best listening audience in the World – enough for all you have given me and my family. I don’t know where my journey will end, but I am so thankful that I got to share it all with you.
Many do not know but Chio was a factor in the success of Philly Sports Live. His Banana Eating Video, helped launch a partnership with both our blog and Wired 96.5. Chio also embraced Philadelphia artist Lil Louie C and his Flyers Knock Knock and P1 Anthem, that became a hit during the Flyers and Phillies Playoffs. We all wish Chio the best of luck and we look forward to a Shila and Tingle in the Morning!
