76ers Drafted Jahlil Okafor 3rd Overall in 2015 NBA Draft

Brooklyn NY: The entire basketball came to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn New York for the 2015 NBA Draft on Thursday night. The Minnesota Timberwolves had the number 1 pick after the won the draft lottery by having the worst record in the league this past season which was 16-66. The Los Angeles Lakers had the number 2 pick and then the Philadelphia 76ers had the number 3 pick. The 76ers had the most picks in the draft as they had five 2nd round picks. The 3 players that everyone was going after was Kentucky center Karl-Anthony Towns, Ohio State Point Guard D’Angelo Russell & Duke Center Jahlil Okafor.
With the 1st pick in the draft, Minnesota selected Kentucky center Karl-Anthony Towns, the Lakers holding the 2nd pick and it came down between D’Angelo Russell & Jahlil Okafor and Lakers chose D’Angelo Russell and leaving the 76ers to select Duke Center Jahlil Okafor with the 3rd pick. After the 76ers selected Okafor, there was chatter of the 76ers were looking to trade the pick but 76ers GM Sam Hinkie told reporters at the draft that they were going to keep the pick as the took the best player available.
After being drafted, Jahlil Okafor told reporters that “Joel Embiid texted me last night saying, ‘I’ll see you in Philly” and also said that ‘I’m excited to be in Philadelphia and, hopefully win’
The 76ers also had five picks in the 2nd round and they drafted the following
35th Pick: Select Willy Hernangomez, a Center from Spain
37th Pick: Select Richaun Holmes a forward from Bowling Green
47th Pick: Select Artūras Gudaitis Center from Lithuania
58th Pick: Select J. P. Tokoto SG/SF from North Carolina
60th Pick: Select Luka Mitrović PF from Serbia
