#13 Saint Louis shuts down Saint Joseph’s 65-49

Philadelphia PA: On Wednesday February 5 from Hagan Arena on the Campus of Saint Joseph’s University, the Saint Joseph’s Hawks took on the number 13 ranked Saint Louis Billikens. Saint joseph’s came into game off a win over #21 Massachusetts on Feb 1, while Saint Louis comes into game off a win over George Mason on Feb 1. The Game was broadcasted on  the Comcast Network with Scott Graham, John Griffin calling the action, locally on CBS Sports Radio 610 AM (WIP) with Matt Martucci and Joe Lunardi calling the action

Saint Joseph’s won the opening tip to start the game, the games first points came from saint joseph’s Chris Wilson by making 2 foul shots, Saint Louis got on the board 17:31 left in 1st half from a layup by Mike McCall Jr. Saint Louis took its first lead of game at 16:10 of 1st half from a 3 pointer by Rob Loe for a 7-5 lead. both teams would struggle to take control of the game & at the same time there were some questionable  calls made by the officials, Saint Joseph’s would cut into the lead and get down to 13, Saint Louis lead 35-22 at the half,

Saint Joes would called for 5 very cheap fouls to start the 2nd half & from there they could not get their back into the game. Saint Louis would increase the lead to 15 at 41-26 with 16:42 left in 2nd half, Saint Joseph’s would go on a run to get the lead down to 7 at 45-38 with 9:45 left, Saint Louis would increase the lead back to 18 with 4:21 left, Saint Louis would hold on for a 16 point win by the score of 65-49. Saint Joseph’s had multiple chances to get back into the game & their foul shooting  did them in the 2nd only making 9-18 from the line & only making 1 three pointer the entire game & Papa Ndao had the Hawks only three pointer of the game which came in the 1st half as the hawks would shot 1-15 from 3 point range. Post game Phil Martelli said “We will win a game by making our foul shots.” Saint Joseph’s gets ready for a another big test on Saturday as they host VCU , while Saint Louis continues its Philadelphia tour as they travel to LaSalle on Saturday.
